With the growing popularity of CBD, often, people are looking for it as a solution to help their pets naturally. There are so many unanswered questions regarding pet CBD, and we’re here to provide answers to the most common questions we receive.

Does CBD actually work for pets?

Yes! Because all animals have an endocannabinoid system just like us, CBD can have all of the same benefits on their systems as it does ours. Meaning, CBD can be used for its anti-inflammatory properties, cardiac benefits, anti-nausea effects, appetite stimulation, and anti-anxiety impact.

Is CBD oil safe for pets?

Definitely! We always recommend checking with your veterinarian if you have serious concerns. However, CBD is a natural remedy that works with the endocannabinoid system and is entirely safe.

Why give your pets CBD?

There are so many reasons to utilize CBD as a natural, holistic solution for pets – here are a few of the top ways it can help heal:

  • Anxiety: From fireworks to travel to separation from their humans, pets with anxiety can be a struggle for cats, dogs, and humans alike. CBD for pets can be a natural and safe way to help pets with anxiety.
  • Pain and mobility: Pain and reduced mobility associated with arthritis occurs in 1 in 5 adult dogs with the most commonly affected joints being the hips, knees, shoulders, and elbows. For cats, a 2011 study showed that 61% of cats over 6 years old had at least one joint evidencing arthritic change. A study by Colorado State indicated that the use of Full-spectrum Hemp (CBD) oil resulted in notable benefits (decreased pain scores, improvements in mobility, and improved quality of life) for 94% of the study dogs in the study.

How do I give my pet CBD?

This is the number one question we receive when customers buy our pet CBD. Our CBD for pets is specifically developed with our furry friends in mind. It has a combination of coconut and salmon oils mixed with our full-spectrum CBD oil, and pets love it because it’s delicious!  The easiest way to give your pet their daily dose of CBD is to add a dropper of oil directly onto their food at mealtime.

How much CBD should I give my pet?

The answer to this can vary based on your pets size, weight, age, and metabolism. Our recommendation is to start small and pay attention to how it is working for them. Our droppers have metered dosage marks so you can easily take note of how much you give them.

We recommend if you have a small breed animal to give them .5ml to start and a large breed animal the full dose of 1ml of our pet formulation.

Are there reasons you wouldn’t give your pet CBD?

If you give your dog medications for anxiety or any other conditions, check with your veterinarian before using CBD oil. Holistic and integrative vets are usually very familiar with CBD and should be able to answer your questions easily.

How do you know if the CBD is working?

CBD usually takes about 5 to 30 minutes to start working. You should notice a slight change in your pet’s behavior. For example, if you are helping to treat your pet’s anxiety, you may notice your pet calming down, or for mobility issues, you may notice them moving around a little easier.

As with any new pet product, if you’re unsure of how your pet will react, here are a few tips:

  • Start small
  • Ask your veterinarian
  • Take notes so you can track how it’s working
