1. CBD Oil May Help in Dog Cancer Treatment

Just like humans, your canine friend can be diagnosed with cancer. This cancer leads to the formation of tumors and, because there is no known cure for cancer, it can become fatal to pets.

But there are cancer medications and treatments you can utilize like, chemotherapy and radiation. Although such medical care helps, their side effects are not pleasant for your dog. Chances are they may feel fatigued, vomit, and lose their appetite.

Fortunately, research on CBD has shown promise in treating cancer in pets.

A study review focused on pancreatic cancer found; that CBD can help slow the growth of tumors, reduce invasion of tumors, and bring about tumor cell death.

Also, when CBD oil is used together with chemotherapy, the survival rate of the patient increased.

This 2018 study demonstrated this concept on CBD and chemotherapy. Mice with pancreatic cancer were treated with CBD and also with chemotherapy. The results of the study showed that there was a threefold increase in survival rate.

Chemotherapy alone does not guarantee survival, but with CBD oil, there may be a higher survival rate.

Since cancer treatments are associated with negative side effects like pain and nausea, CBD can be quite successful in soothing your pets symptoms. Cancer treatments can be a challenging experience for your dog, and by using CBD, you are helping manage the side effects of treatment in a holistic way.

2. CBD Oil May Reduce Your Dog’s Anxiety

Dogs experience anxiety just like humans, and this anxiety can hurt their behavior and social temperament. Some common types of anxious behavior include; travel anxiety, separation anxiety, and anxiety from noise, like fireworks, or thunderstorms.

Separation anxiety affects most pets. It affects most dogs at some point and is a common behavioral disorder. Around 20-40 percent of dogs presented to veterinary behavioral specialists suffer from this disorder.

Research on anxiety in dogs and CBD is lacking, but testimonials from pet owners report positive feedback. CBD can be quite effective in alleviating the anxious feeling in humans and multiple studies have highlighted this may also be the case for pets.

CBD can foster a feeling of calmness and, whatever you were anxious about is reduced.

This same result may ring true for dogs according to several pet owners, so you won’t have to worry as much about your dog during thunderstorms or around strangers.

With regular use, your dog won’t be hiding, trembling, and barking as much when in uneasy situations, like when left alone. CBD oil is worth adding to your dog’s daily routine as it will offer the necessary ongoing support to mitigte your dog’s anxiety.

CBD works in pets because of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) which is located in all mammals. It also controls most biological processes like mood. It is in both humans as well as dogs! The role of the ECS is to ensure there is balance. An imbalance leads to issues like anxiety and stress.

Therefore CBD which is a cannabinoid, helps the endocannabinoid system to restore balance or homeostasis. So your dog can reap the benefits of CBD oil since it has an endocannabinoid system. And with CBD use, you will help your dog mitigate its anxiety leading to a calm, cool, and collected pet.

3. CBD Oil Can Help With Dog Arthritis and Pain Relief

Arthritis occurs in dogs mostly as a result of old age and obesity. It affects the joints making it difficult for your pet to move around. There is usually inflammation in the joints that makes it painful and uncomfortable to walk.

The most common type of arthritis that afflicts dogs is called osteoarthritis (OA). It affects mostly the joints leading your pet to be inactive, sleeping more, and have swelling around the joints.

A 2018 a study was conducted on dogs suffering from osteoarthritis and joint pain on how CBD oil impacts their treatment.  Sixteen (16) dogs received CBD oil every 12 hours for four weeks. There was a significant decrease in pain and an increase in activity at weeks 2 and 4 during CBD treatment. Over 80% of the dogs taking the CBD oil showed improvement in pain levels.

As your dog ages, it has a higher risk of being afflicted with this type of arthritis (osteoarthritis). But you do not have to watch your pet suffer; using a CBD product might be a game-changer.

CBD acts as a great pain reliever and has anti-inflammatory properties. Besides helping dogs with arthritis, CBD is becoming a favorite product for athletes during workouts

It is because traditional pain-relieving medications for dogs and humans like opioids are becoming unpopular due to their harmful side effects.

CBD oil is drawing attention among pet parents as they seek alternatives to opioids.

It is mostly because CBD oil effects on dogs are not fatal or lead to severe side effects like kidney or liver failure. Whether your pet is experiencing chronic pain or arthritis, CBD may be of great help in treating and alleviating their health issue.

4. CBD Oil May Help Dogs With Seizures, Studies Suggest

Epilepsy in dogs leads to seizures and most pet parents choose drugs like Phenobarbital and Potassium bromide to treat it.

Although they are the most common drugs recommended in dealing with dog seizures, they have adverse side effects. The side effects include increased urination, sedation, increased thirst, and appetite.

Seizures result from neurons firing in the brain leading to convulsions, muscle twitching, and irregular attacks.

There is limited research on CBD and seizures in dogs, but the little research available looks promising. One such study and clinical trials are from Colorado State University by Dr. Stephanie McGrath.

In a 2018 clinical trial, sixteen (16) dogs were admitted and nine (9) dogs were treated with CBD, which has 0.3% or less of the psychoactive component of cannabis, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol); seven (7) dogs in the control group were treated with a placebo. The research revealed that 89% of dogs who received CBD had the frequency of their seizures decreased.

According to these results, CBD has a positive effect on reducing the number of dogs’ seizures. Currently, there are no traditional drugs for dogs containing CBD available in treating epilepsy and seizures. Right now, Epidiolex is the only CBD drug available to treat epilepsy and seizures and it is availble mostly for children and adults.

Despite this, most dog owners and parents are using affordable CBD oil created specifically for pets to help their dogs with epilepsy and seizures.

5. CBD Oil May Help With Reducing Nausea (Antiemetic) and Increasing Appetite

Canine nausea is one of the most common issues that lead to dogs taken to the vet.  It can be caused by eating something harmful like household cleaners, or even come about randomly.

Nausea and vomiting can affect any dog, whether it is a puppy or an older dog. It can be detrimental to the health of your pet, leading to appetite and weight loss.

Some of the most common medications for nausea treatment include chlorpromazine and acepromazine. But despite being the usual/familiar drugs used by most pet parents, their adverse side effects are a big drawback.

Some of the side effects are loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, and drooling excessively.

This is where CBD oil for dogs comes into play. It’s becoming a better alternative since there are no known adverse side effects from taking Pet CBD.

But what does the evidence and research say on CBD and nausea?

A review from the British Journal of Pharmacology stated that CBD regulates nausea and vomiting. According to the study, CBD manipulates the endocannabinoid system and effectively manages nausea and vomiting in humans and other animals. Also, evidence from animal experiments suggests that CBD may be especially useful in treating the more difficult to control symptoms of nausea in chemotherapy patients.

By taking care of nausea, your dog will hopefully not experience as much discomfort, and its appetite will regulate. Appetite regulation is huge because it means you no longer have to feel helpless to nourish your pet while they’re experiencing nausea. Utilizing CBD oil for dogs helps improve the quality of life for both you and your pet!

Conclusion

These are just some of the potential benefits of CBD oil for dogs when using our Pet CBD + Salmon Oil tinctures regularly. Although there is little research on CBD oil for dogs, it looks promising for your canine friend according to reviews and the few studies available so far.

Yes, CBD may help your dog’s anxiety, seizures, arthritis, nausea, appetite, and treatment of cancer. But it’s not a miracle cure for all your dog’s health problems. It’s a good supplement for your pet’s holistic health. Moreover, if you are a first-time CBD user, always perform your due diligence and talk to your vet about CBD for pets.
